Semona Diener (née Turvey) is fascinated with the female as subject central to her art. A feminist at heart and inspired by strong women before her. She enjoys working with different mediums, including painting, sculpture and installation art.
Semona graduated with a degree in Visual Arts from the University of Pretoria in 2010. She is a life-time student, and also completed degrees in Psychology and Occupational Therapy and a masters in Early Childhood Intervention through the University of Pretoria.
She was raised on a farm in Limpopo province, lived in Pretoria and is now based on a farm outside of Hoekwil. As a mother and therapist, she is infatuated with the raw creativity often associated with childhood. This influences her artistic approach, as she enjoys experimenting with bold colors and playful techniques.
