“I have been interested in Art all my life. My first drive to draw and paint, started at 7 years old and came from watching George Pilkington paint in his studio on the rocks between St James and Danger Beach, False Bay, Cape Town.
I studied figure drawing in Paris in 1959 and attended the Ruth Prowse Art Centre graphics classes during the 1960’s. Also worked in Window Dressing for Garlicks for 2 years during which time I helped set up a Tretchikoff Exhibition in Garlicks Cape Town Store.
Although I have drawn all my life, I only started Watercolour painting 11 years ago. Before that I designed and painted scarves on silk and worked different Crafts.
Right now I am enjoying painting a variety of subjects to widen my field of expertise. I love the flow of water paint or working with pen and ink. I am hoping to get back into etching and wood cuts sometime in the future.
I exhibit at the Chameleon Gallery in Kalk Bay, also exhibit in Group Exhibitions around the Garden Route, Johannesburg and Limpopo.
My pictures have been bought by South Africans and by overseas visitors from Europe, UK, Americas and Australia. Some of my paintings have been accepted by the Watercolour Society and others have received prizes at SCAVA competitions.”
