I was born in the small town of Fochville, in the Northwest Province. My happy childhood memories are of chasing goggas under the streetlamps on summer nights, but in winter my nights were spent in front of the coal stove drawing and sketching.
Apart from painting classes, I have had no formal training in art, but have, since I can remember, the passion to draw, sketch, create and paint. I qualified as draughts person on the mine and it’s demand for precision and perfectionism, is reflected in all my early works. Abstract art was far beyond my comprehension and therefore, when I felt the need to explore this unknown field, I knew I had to listen to this small voice inside me calling to try the unknown! For the first time in my painting career, I arrived a at the total point of freedom and fulfillment and it felt so right!
I am excited about the direction my art is taking me. The abstract art has already proven to be very popular, with several paintings proudly hanging in homes both in SA and abroad.
I have always used oils as my main medium, but have found that acrylics and mixed media seem to work better with the abstracts. The larger sizes and bright colors of my paintings reflect my love for the big and the bold and I am not afraid to experiment and play with colors.
